In Chapter 1 we learned that Genes

- are the unit of inheritance that transmits information from parents to offspring

- are grouped into very long DNA Molecules called chromosones

- control the activities of a cell.

 

In Chapter 3 we learned that Genes

- consist of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid), a type of nucleic acid.

- two polynecleuotide strands wrap around each other to form a DNA double helix.

- A pairs with T, G pairs with C.

 

In Chapter 10 we learned that DNA and RNA

- are nucleic acids

- one of the two strands of a double helix is called a polynucleotide, a nucleotide polymer chain.

- a nucleotide is composed of   -nitrogenous base  -5 carbon sugar  -phosphate group

 

We also learned in Chapter 10 that Mutations

-are any change in the nucleotide sequence of DNA

-large chromosone regions or just a single nucleotide pair.

 

In Chapter 12 we learned that Gene Therapy

- aims to treat a disease by providing a funtional allele.

- maybe be used to treat disorders traced back to a single defective gene.
